Indoor Air Quality in Albuquerque, NM

Dust, smoke and stale rooms traced back to the filter, the ducts or the airflow, with no sales pitch on gadgets.

Indoor air quality in Albuquerque usually comes down to four things we can check: the filter, the ducts, the airflow and what the house pulls in from outside. Red Wrench Company looks at those first, because the fix is often simple and rarely a new machine. Our visit is an HVAC inspection, not a lab test or medical advice.

Start With What You Are Noticing

Pick the line closest to your problem. If you are unsure, call and describe it.

Indoor Air Quality in Albuquerque: Wind, Smoke and Your Cooling Type

Plan around wind and smoke. The City of Albuquerque notes that many of the area's high wind events come in spring, and its Environmental Health Department has issued alerts during wildfire smoke.

Your cooling type changes the answer. A central system can filter the air it recirculates while the fan runs. A swamp cooler pulls in outdoor air through wet pads, so a furnace filter does nothing for it.

What We Will Not Sell You

We skip anything we cannot explain. The EPA says ducts should be cleaned as needed, not on a schedule, and it warns against devices that intentionally produce ozone. No filter or purifier cures allergies, so we will not tell you one does.

Indoor Air Quality questions

Can you test the air in my house?

We inspect the system, not the air itself. That means the filter, ducts, returns and airflow, with a plain report on what we see. If you need lab sampling for mold, radon or another specific concern, tell us. An independent specialist is the right call for that work, and we can act on the results once you have them.

Will better filtration help my allergies?

We cannot promise that, and no HVAC product treats a medical condition. A better filter can capture more fine particles while the fan runs, and the EPA reports that allergy and asthma study results are limited. Ask your doctor about symptoms. We can tell you what your system will handle.

What should I fix first?

Fix the cheapest proven thing first. Fit the right filter, change it on time, then look for leaks in the return ducts. Those steps often settle a dust complaint in dry, windy Albuquerque springs. Add equipment only when a clear problem remains, and get the price in writing before deciding.
